It is said that after the last Moorish ruler, Boabdil, surrendered the keys
to the Alhambra to Ferdinand and Isabella, as he and his train made their way
to the south, he stopped on a hillside for one last look at the
jewel of his lost kingdom -- at the place that is now called El Ultimo suspiro
del Moro, the last sigh of the Moor -- and wept at his loss. His mother was
unimpressed: "Do not weep like a woman for what you
could not defend as a man!"
