Heat Wave
Amsterdam
May 14, 2000

< < previous | next > >

Must be like 90 degrees here, and I'm sure that's something in Celsius, but right now I'm too exhausted and too sweaty to figure it out.

First few days are always a bit of a shock. Heat wave is making that a little worse than normal, and the jet lag is tiring. Another problem is the hotel. What was a cute pensione for honeymooners is a death trap for kids. That beautiful stone balcony five floors above Raadhuisstraat, and the exotic flights of incredibly steep stairs ... not the right place for a 2-year-old.

Ran into Dale & Nancy Dougherty on the street last night; can't believe I didn't shoot a shot. Been here three days, feels like three weeks. Conference is a good one.
