One good way to get the kids to return to the car when they can't stop playing in the snow is to remind them that we're in the general vicinity where the Donner party of settlers got trapped and resorted to cannibalism to survive. Do ghosts of those poor unfortunate pioneers still wander these heights on snowy afternoons, one might ask a child (especially if one is trying to get the child back into the car).
