Not just cold -- I mean, we had jackets and hats -- but ski weather cold, demanding parkas and gloves really, had we wanted to be awed and comfortable at the same time. You forget Grand Canyon tops out above 7,000 feet, higher than the peaks at our favorite Sierra ski lifts.
