Tim in Annadel

Santa Rosa, Calif.
March 2, 2001

My cousin Tim and I went for a walk in Annadel State Park, talking about his recent trip to Burma, Buddhism, my dying grandmother, and other things, with fresh greens all around, enjoying the light that comes after a day of rain, when the sun is spotlighting everything from the West, with stark shadows. We were up on the top of the hill when we took in this sunset, and as it dipped behind the hills of Western Sonoma Country, we suddenly realized that meant we had about 20 minutes until it got dark, to get down the hill. We were still finding our way down after dark, a half moon peeking out from clouds lit our descent. It was a good way to spend the afternoon.
