Described by some as a family-friendly version of
Burning Man, the Maker Faire was an amazing congregation
of inventors, hippies, crafties, geeks and nerds, all
showing off their inventions and hobbies -- mostly
fascinating and mostly useless. A real testimonial
to the thrill of making something just for the heck of it.
For example, a larger-that-life version of the old Mouse Trap
game, or The Disgusting Spectacle, "14-billion-jillion tons of steel"
that was essentially a human-powered mouse wheel that operated
a big nose-picking sculpture. Here's Ellie making it work.
