Jen had to work her new job at Sonoma Valley Hospital on
Christmas Day, so rather than send her out there alone,
we decided to move Christmas to Sonoma. We packed up the
presents, the stockings, and a table-top tree and settled
into our room on a warm, drizzly Christmas Eve.
It was fun, but we were missing Tommy, who we had left at
home in the care of neighbors. To take our minds off that,
Jen and I wandered down to
the grand lobby to hear the carolers and take part in a
Scotch tasting. Once in, what did we see but everyone in
the world with a dog on a leash. "Oh yes," the concierge
explained, "in fact we were on TV last week as the Bay
Area's most dog-friendly spa."
Ten minutes later, Jen and I were in the Mini, headed up
Highway 12 to rescue the missing member of the family.
