All the warning signs pointed to this being a lousy day to ski: temperatures in
the 60s, patches of brown earth visible on the ski cams, a late start that got us
into the parking lot well after noon.
But it was just the opposite: the crowds stayed away and we had a mountain of snow almost all to
ourselves. Skiied right onto the lift every time, and burned through all of Em's
remaining points for the season in a long afternoon of fun runs on only slightly
slushy snow.
The whole day cost us about $15, for my rented helmet and poles. Plus a few dollars for
a celebratory beer by the firepit at the end of the day.
