Have to admit: This really didn't seem like a very smart idea to me. After all, one of the basic rules of being a primate is, "Keep your young away from the big cats."
But I was overruled. They saw it on The Amazing Race. so it must be safe, right? And when will we ever get a chance to pet a tiger again?
When I asked how they keep the tigers restrained someone said, "The monks have a stick that they can swat the tiger with." Not completely reassuring in the event that one of the beasts should experience a Siegfried moment. Still, we survived, and it remains a (the?) favorite memory of the trip.
