Along the Freedom Trail

Boston
April 7, 2017

I believe the proper term is "a fizzle" of dismounted cannon, which described the scene at Charlestown dry dock, where Old Iron Sides is getting de-wormed, re-coppered, dis-masted, and whatnot.

Don't tell the Navy: they may be undercharging for the purchase of a US flag that you get to raise, with a uniformed sailor, above the oldest commissioned ship in the fleet-- creating a priceless gift for a patriot.

After, we made our way to the End of the Freedom trail, on a little hill, so close to Boston that if you were digging trenches on it in the middle of a summer night, a general out for a stroll on Beacon Hill could hear, across the water, the sounds of the shovels hitting the earth.
