Up a long and bumpy dirt road, down into a valley and up a river, a crack
in the mountain opens into this cave filled with bats, spiders, and
million-year-old stalagtites. We had to crawl through an underground river
and squeeze through a tiny passage called "the birth canal." We had the place
to ourselves, just us, our guide, and the cave photographer who delighted in
sneaking off and lying in wait in dark corners making mysterious animal sounds.
